So-Cal Disciples (SOCD) is a newly established Youth Basketball and Skills Training Program. The SOCD program is comprised of Players, Coaches and Volunteers from Orange County, San Bernardino County, and Los Angeles County.
SOCD is a year-round program committed to player and character-building development through our Trailblazing Basketball and Mentoring Program. This program is designed to develop young children into accomplished adults. We provide both boys & girls from 3rd grade (8U) to 12th grade (17U) with opportunities to learn and improve their basketball skills in a safe, positive, and competitive environment.
It is our goal to provide critical skill development on an individual and team basis, with an emphasis on understanding the team concept. We are dedicated to their physical, mental, and social development. Each player is encouraged to succeed, challenged to compete, and motivated to improve.
The Player Expansion Program is co-ed and consist of two divisions. The PEP Elementary and Middle School Divisions were created for the beginner to intermediate level athlete to provide an opportunity to focus on individual development and mastery of competitive club team concepts. All players in the PEP will receive close to equal playing time during competition to allow for growth and improvement.
The Elementary Division is made up of players from 3rd-5th grade. Members in this program will have two 1-hour training sessions plus one game per week. Games will be 5v5 on regulation basketball and courts.
The focal points of the program are:
· Improve basic basketball fundamentals building a foundation of the basic basketball skills necessary to play competitively.
· Familiarize the athlete with the basic rules and concepts of the game of basketball.
· Prepare the athlete for competitive team play.
The Middle School Division is made up of players from 6th-8th grade. Members in this program will have two 90-minute training sessions per week. PEP teams will participate in locally competitive leagues but will not travel.
The focal points of the program are:
· Refine and improve individual skills.
